Notes about train station zoning
Why does the Zoning Map Explorer default to 1,320 feet?
The Chicago TOD ordinance gives property owners certain density bonuses and relief on parking minimums for renovations and new construction with 1,320 feet of a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) or Metra station entrance.
Why isn't the "simple radius" assessment a circle?
The buffer around the train station is drawn around the station entrances because the Chicago TOD ordinance applies to properties measured to be within 1,320 feet of the nearest station entrance (or 2,640 feet if that property is on a pedestrian street).
